3 Tips for a Merrier Everything this Holiday

December brings so, SO many things for all of us, doesn’t it? All the decorating, the wrapping, the shopping, the hosting - all the things that make the holidays come alive!

With the big days getting closer and closer, I wanted to round up a few of my thoughts on the holiday season. I know how much your home is a part of your holiday experience- from inspiring what you buy for others (or your own wishlist!) to how you decorate to how you feel while you host.

While I take some cozy out-of-office time this season, I wanted to share a few of my holiday tips for this (or next!) year to make your season ever brighter:

1. Give your guest room some love

If you’re hosting guests over the holidays, remember to give it a touch of cozy! Whether it’s a couch or a casita, there’s small ways to make a space all the more inviting for your guests.

Think of some small luxuries or conveniences that would mean alot to your company. Would they enjoy some books on the side table or a designated mug? Or an extra chair? What’s something you put out for your guests that they love? Is it a candle, coffee pot in their room, or maybe a pile of blankets to snuggle up with? Little thoughtful touches like this can make so much difference in how your guests feel in their space.

If you have a moment, are there any little decor touches you haven’t gotten to yet? Maybe hanging some hooks, getting a luggage stand or putting up an art piece. You could even add Christmas sheets or small decorations- whatever makes the space feel more welcoming. And so much of this really can take you 30 minutes or less to set up before company arrives!

After your holiday guests have left and you’re thinking of refreshing your space - I can help! Just some small touches and conveniences can make sure your guests feel at home.

2. If you can, shop local!

As all the department stores and malls go crazy, why not skip the lines and shop local? Ferguson's Downtown hosts so many local shops I adore, and there are so, so many more to choose from.

Shopping locally is usually where I start when I’m buying my client’s gifts especially. I love finding hand-made items or goods with a cause! Since I know my client’s style, they’re easy to shop for! But local shops offer so many unique items and ideas that you can get inspired by, even in a pinch.

All For Our Country is one of my favorite stops on my holiday shopping route! Really anywhere in Ferguson’s Downtown is wonderful! And mid-shopping coffee at Mothership is always a must!

3. Have a go-to gift idea.

Just having one or two evergreen gift ideas is such a stress-saver, and can still feel special and meaningful without all the hassle.

One of my favorite go-to gift ideas is frames through Framebridge. It’s best given as a gift card, but it allows people to get custom frames for whatever they’ve been dying to put on the wall.

We have an amazing travel wall that has grown to practically fill our largest wall in our primary bedroom. Throughout we have used Framebridge to frame some odd items that would be shoved in a box somewhere - like lace from Budapest or a boomerang from Sydney. I love adding a brass plate to each that says the place and year we purchased our little travel souvenir.

I have some people that are impossible to buy for and I think this would be a great gift! They could frame old recipe cards from their family, tickets from concerts, swatches of meaningful clothing - really there are so many options!

Your go-to gifts could be mugs, frames, glassware, or throws from your favorite store. I suggest picking somewhere a little unique and that you personally really enjoy.

Those are a few of my holiday tips as we wrap up 2022! I wish you a very merry everything, and some true rest and joy. See you in 2023!
